SnapStream vs TurtlePic: per-event pricing against an annual storage plan

3 August 2026 · 9 min read

Both platforms do face-matched event photo delivery well. They disagree about how you should pay for it: TurtlePic sells an annual subscription metered on storage, SnapStream charges per event. We build SnapStream, so here is the number we would rather not lead with — above about 3 events a year, TurtlePic is cheaper on headline price. Here is the full picture, including when that stops being the number that matters.

All TurtlePic figures below were read from its in-app plan screen at app.turtlepic.com/auth/plan on 3 August 2026 — TurtlePic does not publish pricing on its marketing site, so the plan screen is the primary source. Prices change; verify before deciding.

What TurtlePic costs

TurtlePic bills annually and meters storage. Every paid plan gets unlimited events, unlimited photos in total, unlimited AI credits, and a ceiling of 30,000 photos per event — so the only thing separating the tiers is how many gigabytes you may keep.

Standard$360500 GBUnlimited30,000
Pro$5351 TBUnlimited30,000
Elite$7502 TBUnlimited30,000

Two costs sit outside the plan price. A custom domain is Rs.3,000 a year, and WhatsApp credits are Re.1 per message — TurtlePic is India-based and prices those add-ons in rupees. Per message that is small change; the point is that messaging is a meter rather than an included channel.

What SnapStream costs

Client galleries are free permanently, with 20GB of storage and no commission on anything you sell. You pay per event, only on the events where you want face matching and WhatsApp delivery switched on.

The arithmetic, honestly

Take a photographer shooting weddings of about 80 guests and 400 photos — SnapStream Essential at $49, comfortably inside TurtlePic Starter's limits too.

The crossover is at 3 events. Below it, per-event pricing wins and the gap is largest at one event a year. Above it, TurtlePic's flat annual fee wins and keeps winning — at twelve events a year it is not close.

The catch in an annual plan: the meter is cumulative

TurtlePic's storage is not an annual allowance that resets — it is a ceiling on everything you are currently keeping. A 400-photo wedding at high resolution runs roughly 2GB, so Starter's 50GB holds on the order of twenty-five weddings before you either delete old galleries or move to Basic at $240.

That is not a gotcha, it is just a different model, and it is worth planning for. Storage meters charge you in year three for events you shot in year one. Per-event pricing does not: once the event is over, the cost stops.

Where the products genuinely differ: delivery

Price is the loud difference; the delivery model is the one that changes what your guests experience.

TurtlePic: QR code to a web gallery

Guests scan a QR code, register through a web form with a selfie, and are notified when photos are published. Notification by WhatsApp or email is supported, with WhatsApp metered per message. The gallery is a polished web app with 4K video, bulk download and download-quality controls.

SnapStream: the whole flow lives in WhatsApp

Guests scan a QR code that opens WhatsApp, send a selfie as a message, and receive their photos as a WhatsApp message linking to a personal gallery. There is no web form, no account, and no app. WhatsApp is not a notification channel bolted onto a web product — it is where registration, consent and delivery all happen.

Which is better depends entirely on your guests. At a South African wedding or a conference in India, Brazil or most of Europe, WhatsApp is where people already are and the friction difference is large. At a US corporate event, it may not be.
